As a DJ, Toronto based party controller Baba Kahn has done it all. He reigns supreme at several of Canada’s hottest clubs, and has a fan base that stretches across North America and into to parts of Europe. Baba Kahn has also made several appearances on Electric Circus (2001, 2002,2003) along with NBA XL (2003) and is always appearing on MuchMusic’s Urban Shows from as far back as Da’ Mix (1997,1998, 1999) to Vibe (2002, 2003) DownLow (2002,2003), IshStyle-CFMT (2004, 2005, 2006), VOLT (2006), Studio 2-TVO (2006), CTV News (2006) and Canada AM (2006).

Baba Kahn has shared the stage with top performers from Canada and the US such as: Run DMC, Montel Jordan, Busta Rhymes, Destiny’s Child, Tamia, Funk Master Flex, 112, Kardinal Offishal, Faith Evans, Next, Bubba Sparxxx, DJ AM, and Jazzy Jeff.

As co-owner of Soul Shock Marketing Group, Baba has created some of Canadas most unforgettable weekly and special event club nights. He lists the success of this venture as a team effort (the company has grown to include 2 full-time and 12 part-time staff members), and credits it for allowing him to keep his ear to the street, while providing more exposure for him as a DJ and all-around entertainer.

The next challenge on the horizon for Baba is the launch of Scratch Lab DJ Institute, which is set to open January 2006. Five years in the making, Baba describes the school as a labor of love, and hopes it will be a step towards legitimizing DJing as a career. The school boasts some of the countrys best DJs as teachers, including DMC Champion DJ Grouch, Starting From Scratch, and Jr.Flo. In an age where money and who you know talks louder than talent and what you know, it’s refreshing to find a band that still believes hard work and great songs should be the way forward. Israel’s missFlag is one such band. Borne from the friendship of five individually talented musicians, missFlag has been steadily carving a niche for themselves since their inception in 2005.

This is in no small way thanks to the diverse musical influences that the five members of missFlag bring to the band – from jazz to classical, fusion to rock, the music of missFlag is testament to the musical education the members of the band went through before finding each other.

But perhaps it’s not the musical range and diversity that finds missFlag on the verge of their international breakthrough – rather, it’s the message of hope and self-belief that can be found throughout each song on their debut album ‘To Infinity’. Reaching out to the world from Jerusalem and surrounded by everyday conflict that most other bands could never understand, missFlag refuse to be drawn into any political statements, and instead share their hope through music that we can all live as one.

From sublime anthems such as the beautiful ‘Run’, with its belief that even the poorest relationship can be saved, to the live favourite in waiting that is ‘Let It Show’, missFlag show they can stand beside such luminaries as Coldplay and Snow Patrol and not be overshadowed. Since May 2007 missFlag have been featured on KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic”, the internationally influential music show on National Public Radio. With a national following on air and a worldwide following online, MBE’s DJ Nic Harcourt chose missFlag’s “Hidden Thieves” for heavy rotation on the show, launching it into the top slot of songs played on the station. Airplay on MBE is highly competitive, receiving submissions of over 500 songs per week.

During September 2007 DJ Nic Harcourt also chose missFlag for a highly coveted live in-studio performance from MBE’s Los Angeles studio, which included an interview with missFlag’s lead singer Ohad Eilam. During the interview, Harcourt observed, “There is a sincerity in their original songs that makes them stand out,” complimenting the band on being, “so sweet, yet hungry – a great combination for a band trying to make it here in the U.S.”

In December 2007 missFlag’s song “Fortune” was selected as KCRW’s Top Tune.

VP Records ringtones

VP Records is an independent reggae record label, located in Queens, New York. It is best known for producing Caribbean singers.

The foundation

VP Records was founded in 1979 by the late Vincent “Randy” Chin and his wife Patricia Chin, Chinese Jamaicans who owned the Randy’s Records in Kingston, Jamaica (as seen in the 1978 film Rockers) as well as the Studio 17 recording studios. In the mid-1970s, the Chins moved to New York City, and in 1979 they opened a store in Jamaica, Queens called VP Records, which sells and distributes records. In 1993, the record label was formed after the success of the retail store. The name of the label is a product of the first letters in the founders’ names, hence the title “VP”.

The music

The label established itself as one of the first and largest independent record labels for reggae and dancehall, and with the popularity of the riddim sound of the early 2000s, the label achieved worldwide success for artists such as Sean Paul through the label’s deals with Warner Music’s Atlantic Records and Virgin Music Canada. The label is often also accredited with having increased the popularity of the now globally recognized Elephant Man, also known as the ‘Energy God’ or ‘Ele’, through a deal with Bad Boy Records. VP Records has acquired the slogan “Miles Ahead in Reggae Music” to signify that they could be considered to be the future of music that derives from the Caribbean. Besides reggae, VP is also known for dancehall and soca music. VP also releases a series of Riddim Driven albums, which feature various artists.

VP Records has been awarded Billboard’s “Best Independent Label” for two consecutive years and has received the award for “Best Reggae Imprint Label” for three consecutive years. VP was also nominated for Best Independent Reggae Label at the 2003 Billboard Hip-Hop and R&B awards, and had been mentioned and featured in publications such as Vibe magazine, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Billboard, and Time magazine.

The label is now run by Mr. Chin’s sons Randy and Christopher, while Ms. Patricia Chin continues to assist with the maintenance of her late husband’s company as well. In 2007, VP Records began re-issuing classic albums from the 1970s and 1980s on the 17 North Parade label, the address of Randy’s Studio, where it all began.

Chad Jeice Ringtones

Born Christopher Lamela Havana, He grew up living in Orange County California, Currently at the age of 17, being born on October 1st, 1990; this is where the story begins.
To many who didnt know how to say the name, its pronounced (SEE-JAY-CE) CJeice got his stage name when he was at a very young age. He made his first appearance at “The Block at Orange” in Orange California. The stage name “Chad Jeice” was given to him by his cousin who goes by the stage name of Kkris. As “Chad Jeice” he starting thinking creatively and came up with the name CJeice.

At a very young age, CJeice always loved music and knew he wanted to do something with his life that related to that. Then he was introduced to Hip-hop which changed his life. He wanted to make his own influential music that most people would listen to and something you can learn a lesson from. He learned how to play the piano at a very young age and never thought it would help him out later on, but it did. He also later learned how to play the guitar around middle school which he became exceptionally well at. As a guitarist, he started many rock bands which include: New Beginning, LOL (Live Out Life), Nu Disciples, Flash of Faith, Those Worth Saving, and as well as starting his own solo acoustic project. Not only was CJeice into hiphop and r&b, but he appreciated music itself including: Experimental, Alternative, Indie, Rock, Metal, Hardcore, Emo, Club, House, Techno, Electro, Country, Bluegrass, Classic and more. Years later, he figured out he had an sensitive ear for music and started producing on a keyboard that had many sample sounds in it. He recently also learned how to play the Ukulele. After learning how to completely mimic hit songs on his keyboard, he started producing his own. Since then he started learning how to sing, rap and songwrite. Since then he started recording his own style of music.

He personally knew what it was like to live in a 3rd world country. He had a caring heart for his cousins in the Philippines and was the lucky one of the family that got to live in America. He wishes to help out his people and also the poverty others countries like his home land faced. He promised he would do something about it and wanted to become a Philanthropist through his music. He also has always kept Film and Acting as his dream along side with music. Along side with that, he also wishes to start his many businesses as an Entrepreneur. His song “Potential” Feat Jona and Enel is going to be made into an Official Music Video.

Biography

Three Windsor high school classmates which consisted of Gray, Preney, and an unnamed vocalist sought out to start a band and found their drummer in Paul Doman, creating the band Knematic. After two separate incidents forced Gray and the former vocalist to leave the band, the band was left with a void. Ashes of Soma found their bassist in between the incidents, and Gray later happily rejoined the band as the new vocalist. After a couple of years of developing their sound, they recorded their first record, Exit 647. The first single released is “Emancipate”. The band is working with record producer David Bendeth (known for his work with Breaking Benjamin and Killswitch Engage) as they record their second album.

They have toured in the US and Canada with Candlebox, Default, Hinder, and Theory of a Deadman.^[4] They have also toured with Social Code, Idol Sons, Evans Blue and Thornley.

The band’s influences include Tool, Sevendust, Disturbed, Finger Eleven, and I Mother Earth.^[5]

Art of Dying - Cellphone Ringtones

Art Of Dying (AOD) is a five piece Canadian Rock band fronted by Jonny Hetherington that sounds like Nickelback. The Vancouver based group has built an impresive international following since 2006 touring with Seether and Disturbed as well as performing at international festivals such as Download and Virginfest along side artists like Tool, Metallica and The Deftones.

The album was released to the rest of the world via itunes and a US online retailer known as CD Baby, on February 3rd 2007.

In October 2007, Thorny Bleeder Records released their debut album in Canada with distribution through Universal Music Canada and Conveyor Canada.
